Medical Record Deficiencies Still Problematic

Although it was expected that deficiencies would be reduced now that records can be completed on-line, this is not proving to be the case. Joint Commission standards are very specific about the standards. Medical Staff is urged to adopt new habits to ensure that records are kept up-to-date, such as a weekly check-in at a scheduled time each week. If there are any problems, the HIM Department is available to assist. Physicians may go there to complete charts and obtain further system training, or Maria Silvestri (763-5158) will come to your office. Renee Masciarelli (763-6439) is available to trouble-shoot any system issues. Deficiencies are expensive for hospital operations since records cannot be billed, and can also be a patient care issue.
