What Does OPPE Mean to You?

The Medical Staff Quality and Medical Executive Committees have been reviewing the latest Joint Commission requirements for peer review or "opportunities for on-going professional practice evaluation" referred to for obvious reasons as OPPE. This requires evaluations on an on-going basis, not just at reappointment time.

It was determined that the profile data (Treo Reports) will be run every six months and results divided by top 10%, middle group, and bottom 10%. For the top and middle groups, a letter will be placed in the QA file. For the bottom group, cases that fall out will be reviewed to verify the data and to determine further action, if any. Practitioners will be notified of the determination and letters put in the QA file. Treo Reports will be filed separately from the QA file.
