What is Medical Necessity?

Monday, October 10, 2011 at 10:37:05 AM

Medical necessity describes not only what is done to a patient and the objective findings such as labs and vitals, but also takes into account the complexity of care and the need for ongoing medical decision-making.

In an effort to ensure UHS continues to provide high quality, reimbursable care for our patients we have contracted with EHR, Executive Health Resources, “The Physician Advisor Company”. EHR provides hospitals with 7-day-a-week teams of specially-trained, technology-supported Physician Advisors focused on improving hospital clinical management department, attending physician staff and the business office to address problems while patients are still in the hospital.

Over the next several weeks we will begin the training and implementation of the EHR processes. Education will be provided to the care management and the medical staff. If you would like additional information or have any questions as we move forward with this new partnership, please feel free to contact Dr. Peter Ronan at 762-2255 or Pat Chamberlin, Manager of the Care Management Department at 763-5005.
