UHS will open a new, state-of-the-art retail pharmacy in Johnson City this week.
The UHS Pharmacy at Wilson Place will open to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
The new pharmacy is centrally located in modern quarters on the ground floor of 52 Harrison St., and is a convenient place for UHS employees, patients and the general public to drop off and pick up prescriptions.
The new Wilson Place location is ideal for those visiting physician offices, the UHS Ambulatory Surgery Center or the UHS Pre-Admission Testing Department, all located in the same building; for those who are inpatients or outpatients at UHS Wilson across the street; and for those who live or work in the area.
The site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The pharmacy will use a locally invented medication-dispensing robot. Developed by Innovation, a Johnson City-based company, the robotic device will accurately count medications, put them in their proper containers, label them and dispense them for pharmacists to give to customers.
In addition to the new Wilson Place site, UHS currently operates retail pharmacies at 601 Riverside Drive at the traffic circle in Johnson City and at 1302 E. Main St. in Endicott.
UHS also plans to launch another site in Vestal, which will be open to the public 24 hours a day.
The pharmacies provide personal service, competitive pricing and maximum convenience, accepting all major insurance plans.
