Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:58:14 AM

• All staff & visitors must wear a gown and gloves when entering a GI contact isolation room. Staff must wear a surgical mask when entering a patient’s room. Dispose of mask and perform hand hygiene before exiting room.

• Exposed equipment and the patient environment must be cleaned with a bleach product such as the PDI beach wipes or 5.25% sodium hypochlorite solution prepared by environmental services.

• Infection Control Policy VIII.002 requires all staff and visitors to wear a gown and gloves when entering a contact isolation room. Lack of proper PPE exposes staff, visitors and other patients to infections.

• Negative pressure private room doors must be closed to maintain negative pressure.

• Staff entering the room must wear the N-95 mask if the patient has suspected/confirmed TB, chickenpox, measles or disseminated Herpes Zoster.

• Annual fit testing by Respiratory Therapy is required. Please call 763-6488 for an appointment.

• Hand Hygiene continues to be the first and last action for all types of precautions including standard precautions.
