**CHANGE IN D-DIMER TEST PROCEDURE**

Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 12:54:11 PM

UHS Laboratory is pleased to announce that we have changed our D-Dimer test, which will provide a significant improvement in the sensitivity and negative predictive value of the test.

Previously, the test method we were using had a cutoff value of 400 ng/mL and had to be interpreted in conjunction with clinical findings.

The new D-Dimer test method has a cutoff value of 230ng/mL and because of the productís 100% sensitivity and 100% negative predictive value, the results have been accepted by the FDA to be used to exclude venous thromboembolism (VTE) in outpatients suspected of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) when used in conjunction with pre-test probability scores.
