On April 29th, 2014, the Chemistry laboratories at WMH and BGH will be transitioning to new Chemistry equipment, the Roche Cobas 6000. As this platform represents a change in technology and an opportunity to streamline workflow within the laboratory, the existing Chemistry test menu of individual tests and profiles was analyzed and several changes were made to improve the timeliness and quality of testing offered. These changes are as follows:

T3Uptake, H. Pylori IgG and RBC Folate testing will no longer be performed in-house. These tests will be available through our reference laboratory and will be sent out 6 days a week.

LDL, currently part of a Lipid profile, will now be a directly measured test, instead of a calculated value. The range for this test will be unaffected.

TIBC, currently part of an Iron profile, will be a calculated value, obtained from a directly measured Iron and UIBC. The range for this test will be unaffected.

Should there be any questions, please contact the WMH Chemistry Supervisor, Angela K. Armato, at 763-5780. Thank you.
