On June 29th, 2015, the Chemistry laboratories at WMH and BGH will be transitioning to new Chemistry equipment, the Ortho Vitros 5600. As part of this instrumentation change, the laboratory will be making several changes to the in-house Urine Drug Screen testing it offers. The changes are outlined below:

• The basic testing offered in the Urine Drug Screen will be: Amphetamine, Barbituates, Benzodiazepines, Cannabis, Cocaine, Opiates, Creatinine, and Methadone (if indicated)

• For the Benzodiazepine assay, the screening cut-off will be increased from 100 ng/mL to 200 ng/mL

• The Opiate assay will not detect Oxycodone and its Metabolites

Please note that all urine drug screen testing represent screening results only. Any “positive” results which exceed the cut-off values of the assays are not confirmed by independent methods and should be used for medical/treatment purposes only. Any confirmatory testing required, or any testing required for assays not performed in-house can be performed at our reference laboratory, provided the appropriate specimen(s) and order(s) are provided to the laboratory. Please be aware that urine drug testing sent to our reference laboratory may have a turn-around time of up to a week.

Additional questions should be directed to the WMH Chemistry Supervisor, Angela Armato, at 763-5780, the BGH Laboratory Supervisor, Rosemary Parkinson at 763-5780, or the Laboratory Medical Director, Dr. Jagmohan Sidhu, MD at 763-5780.

Thank you.
