Pre-Procedures Risk Assessment Concerns

Monday, April 17, 2006 at 11:40:57 AM

Despite continued focus on this area, inadequate pre-procedure risk assessments are still identified in audits. This can lead to serious complications and death, and should be a major focus for the Medical Staff. The assessment form was modified in 2005 to include sections for 1) final estimated risk assessment, and 2) risk reduction strategies. If the form is not used, these items still need to be addressed in the dictation. To receive a current version (2005) of the form for your office, you may contact Karen Harter in Quality Management at 762-2516.
