Patient Satisfaction Results

In-patient satisfaction scores at UHSH are being tracked through Press Ganey and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The goal is to be in the top quartile or better and we are currently in the 74th percentile. Scores for physicians communicating with patients were low compared to the rest of the country and the second lowest in the survey. Research has shown that doctorsí communication not only influences satisfaction, but is also significant in patient adherence to treatment regimens. Tailoring your language to the patient, tempo and tone of voice, pausing for digestion and feedback, use of repetition, and positive body language, such as a touch on the shoulder or handshake, are all important components to good patient interactions.
