April 2, 2007 United Health Services Hospitals Laboratory today announced the implementation of the CYTYC ThinPrep® Imaging System for cervical cancer screening. The ThinPrep Imaging System, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is the first fully integrated, interactive computer system that assists cytotechnologists and pathologists in the primary screening of ThinPrep Pap Test slides. The ThinPrep Imaging System combines revolutionary imaging technology with human interpretive expertise to improve cervical cancer screening efficiency and performance. The United Health Services Hospitals Laboratory has been offering the ThinPrep Pap Test since March 2000 and will use the ThinPrep Imaging System for all cervical cancer screenings.

“United Health Services Hospitals Laboratory is committed to providing our patients with the best new technology to detect disease early and the ThinPrep System enables us to do that,” said Jagmohan Sidhu, M.D., Director, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. “Using the ThinPrep System offers significant improvements over previous screening technologies. Making this technology the standard in our practice was simply the right thing to do.”
