Effective immediately, UHS Breast Center is no longer holding mammogram patient result letters for 7 days. This practice was implemented to ensure the Health Care Providers would have the mammogram report should the patient call with questions after receiving their letter. This practice is now becoming a service delivery issue with women wanting quicker results.
From the Health Care Providers stand point, the letter delay has become less of an issue due to the instant availability of reports via Physician Vu on the UHS website and the Breast Centers nurses management of abnormal results.
This was approved by Medical Executive Committee on April 13, 2009. I am sure you will agree with me that is practice is no longer needed and all our patients will benefit.
